War destroys of that there is no doubt. War is a terrible crime and the Vietnam War was one of the worst crimes. Across The Pond is based on the individual’s destruction. From the young guy who feels his patriotic duty is to fight for his country to the broken individual who is not welcome back.
The narrative is lean and to the point, but it leaves the reader with no doubt of the horrors of war and the individual struggle of a young guy trying to find himself after experiencing Vietnam.
The introduction by the author of Born On The Fourth of July is interesting and it encourages all Vietnam Vets to tell their story.
